COLLECTA CLOSED ITS DOORS

On Sunday, 27 March 2011, another successful international collectors fair has come to an end. In the three day event 6,000 visitors were able to take a look at collecting items from 139 traders from 16 different European countries. Many young families attended the fair waiting to see the largest exhibition of Bakugan figurines.


»From its first steps Collecta has become a great event, full of potential in this side of Europe. It is not just a fair, where collectors trade, it is a fair with an educational note bringing together thematic exhibitions which present the world of collecting to the younger generations«, said Rok Glavan, a collector participationg in Collecta from its very beginning.


The fair was enriched by a thematic exhibition »Books Everywhere« and other accompanying programme – an auction of old books and prints, a round table about implications of the Cultural Heritage Act for numismatics in Slovenia, a lecture on Olivine – the forgotten jewel of Cleopatra and a presentation of postal Stamps by Pošta Slovenije.

INSPITE OF INTERNET OFFERS, PHYSICAL EXCHANGE STILL IMPORTANT!

A long queue of enthusiasts waiting before the fair entrance is a proof that meetings like this fair is still important in the world of collecting. Many visitors were able to watch, exchange and buy diverse collecting items from a record number of traders, 140 from 14 different countries to be exact.

Yestreday's opening at 12.15 was accompanyed by the presentation of postal stamps, issued on the same day, 25 March 2011. All gathered were greeted by Mitja Lamud, Chairman of Collecta's Programme Committee, Evgen Zadnik, Pošta Slovenije, Ljubljana unit Director, Uroš Grilc D, Head of the Department for Culture of the city of Ljubljana. Handing over the stamps, the Pošta Slovenije representative simbolically put them in circulation.

THE LARGEST EXHIBITION OF BAKUGAN FIGURINES IN SLOVENIA AT COLLECTA

All children are definitively aware of a real sesnation among them, the Bakugan figurines, which in contact with metal turn into warriors. The collection presents more than 600 different figures, as well as many other interesting items from the Bakugan world.

COLLECTA PROGRAMME IN SIGN OF BOOKS

(4 February, 2011)

Unesco has conferred the nomination of Wold Book Capital City 2010 to Ljubljana. Active book promotion and knowledge stimulation have been going on since April 23rd 2010 and will last till April 23rd 2011. The Collecta programme board has also decided to do something in order to honour this nomination and linked the Collecta programme to the book as a fundamental bearer of knowledge.

In the frame of the thematic exhibition “Books Everywhere ” visitors will be able to see  Slovenian learned men’s signatures on postal orders from 1901, rare Slovenian poem collections published up to 1945, book accessories (book pedestals, bookmarks, wrappers, paperweights), finger puppets along with literature proposals, stamps with book themes, bookmarks, Ex libris, Golden book with the signatures of famous Slovenians, writers, represented on coins, etc…
 
Antikvariat Glavan is preparing an auction of old books and prints. Children workshops will be also linked together by the book.

A WEEKEND OF COLLECTING PIECES
(29 March 2010)


Collecta '10, the 4th International Collectors Fair closed its doors on Sunday at 4 pm. In company of many visitors Collecta attracted 122 traders and collectors from 13 different countries.

A few thematic exhibitions took also place at this year's Collecta. We managed to discover the world and homeland, concert zithers, old postal stamps, small collecting avtomobiles, the reproduction of paper money from the 18th and 19th century which were distributed on today's Slovenian territory, school timetables, old books and prints and last but not least the work of children in the Juvenile Philately Exhibition.

This year's Collecta specialty were many workshops nad novelties. Pošta Slovenije presented the 2nd set of post stapms issued on 26 March 2010, we presented Collecta 2010 occasional envepole, postacrd and stamp, company Moro has presented a 12,44 kg heavy golden bar and a set of golden Slovenian coins. The Collector's Corner opened its doors to children who took part in philatelic and gold panning workshops.

Collecta will be again with us from 25 till 27 March 2011.

Collector's corner full of old prints and gold

27 March 2010

All enthusiastics could take a look and buy a selection of old prints in the auction of Antikvariat Glavan which took place in the Collector's corner.  Children instead took part in the gold panning workshop, where their first tried to find gold, took a look at it under the microscope and at the and they could take home the pieces the found themsleves. The gold panning workshop will take place also tomorrow. See more>>

On Sunday, the last day of Collecta, all visitors can still take a walk through the magical world of philately, numismatics, comics, phone cards, zithers and much more, so don't miss this opportunity and come to Marmorna hall of the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre

Tommorrow Collecta 2010 occasional stamps, envelopes, maximum cards and postacrds can also be bought for the last time of this year's edition.

Collecta first day all about events

foto_otvoritevThe 4th International Collectors Fair Collecta has finally opened its doors at 12Noon. The solemn opening took place in the Povodni mož hall where Pošta Slovenije along with the Chairman of the Programme Committee of Collecta Mitja Lamut has greeted all visitors, among them also the Ambassador to Czech Republic Petr Voznica, and also presented to them stamps issued on today's day. Visitors could also watch the London Good Delivery Bar, a 12.44kg heavy and 330,000 EUR worth gold bar being disclosed at the Moro company presentation space in Marmorna hall (B).

Many visitors came to Collecta, high school students of the Biotechnical Centre Ljubljana who took part in the guided tour aorund the thematic exhibition Discover the world and homeland.

The International collectors fair will be opened by the Chairman of the Programme Committee Mitja Lamut. All visitors will be greeted by the president of the Committee for postal stamps valuables issuing Vinko Filipič who will present stamps issued on the same day.

Prestige and charity at Collecta

(17th March 2010)

For the first time in Slovenia, the Moro & Kunst society will present the London Good delivery bar, a 12.44kg heavy golden bar estimated to be worthy more than 330,000 EUR (depending on the fluctuation of gold prices in the world stock exchange). Good delivery is an international quality standard for gold and silver investment bars. It is conferred to noble metal mints with adequate high standards by LBMA (London Bullion Market As), an independent association operating under the London Stock Exchange.

Each visitor who will lift the 12.44kg heavy bar will donate to Moro foundation (www.morofoundation.org), which is helping more than 300 students of the international IB program form 40 different countries in Slovenia.

Special exhibition of the Europan Numismatic Association (ENA)

This year Collecta will present an exhibition based on the catalogue of the Czech numismatic collector Vladimir Filip which reproduces all paper money circulating in Austrian Empire in the period between 1759 and 1918 also on today Slovenia and Czech Republic territory. The banknotes are arranged chronologically according to rulers and in full sets, in some cases also showing contemporary fake banknotes. The simplified catalog of the exhibition will be available free of charge and the book will be available for acquisition at ENA stand.

Collecta 09 has closed its doors after 3 days

Leaving Collecta, visitors and participants were very well impressed. After three days of different events, searching, comparing and purchasing different exhibits, Collecta successfully closed down. The rainy week-end didn't prevent 9,700 visitors and 140 participants from Slovenia and abroad from visiting the 3rd International Collectors Fair at the Gospodarsko razstavišče (Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre).

Many events took place in lecture rooms and exhibition areas: publishing houses presented themselves, many children visited our Children's Corner (Otroški kotiček) and more went on. On Friday, in collaboration with Moro company, we put the biggest European gold coin on display. Two lectures and two auctions were held on Friday and on Saturday.

Many visitors were attracted by Slovenika Exhibition where many important historical moments were put on display: extreme weather conditions in Slovenia, the works of France Prešeren, Slovenia's greatest poet, 100 hundred year-old locomotive, fossils and minerals from different periods, figurines, including that one representing Elvis Presley, and many other items.


We would like to thank all participants for their cooperation.

Collecta opening its doors today

(March 27th, 2009)

Today, March 27th 2009 at 12 Noon the 3rd International collectors Fair is opening its doors. This year's Collecta gathered 140 participating collectors and traders, the thematic exhibition Slovenika, an interesting programme in the conference room and the Literary Corner for literature of the field of collecting. The youngest visitors of Collecta will be able to attend different thematic workshops in the Children's Corner.

Collecta will be open for visitors today between 12. Noon and 6 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday between 9. am and 6 pm.

Presentation of the biggest gold coin Europe

(March 24th, 2009)

The biggest European gold coin which will be presented by the societies Moro and Schoeller Münzhandel will be unvield on Saturday, march, 28th 2009 at 11.00 am (and not on Friday like first  announced). The coin will be available for visitors to see till Sunday.

Collecta turns gold

foto_dunajski_filharmonikThis years Collecta will present along with the Slovenian society Moro and the Austrian Schoeller Munzhandel the biggest gold coin in Europe, property of Austrian National Bank. The Vienna Philharmonik coin which market value is estimated to 800,000 Euros, is made out of pure gold, weights 31 kilograms and is 37 sentimeters in diameter. It's the biggest gold coin in Europe produced by the Münze Österreich mint which has a 800-year-old tradition and which has produced 15 of thse coins for the 15th anniversary of the Vienna Philharmonic coins issue.

For the first time in Slovenia the coin will be presented to the public precisely at Collecta in Hall B.

What does this year's Collecta has to offer

(March 3rd 2009)


This year also there will be many  exhibits shown in the Thematic exhibition Slovenika, but there wil be many novelties: an Auction held by Antikvariat Glavan, an auction held by Dražbena hiša Fock & Pirc and the so called Children's Corner where the youngest ones will be able to come to know the wolrd of collecting.

In the lucture rooms visitors will be able to attend a lecture held by Milan Škrabec, professor of History who has been a collector for more than 27 years now and studies and collects historical source and has written many books on this topic, among them the recently published "Slovenija na razglednicah" (Slovenia on postcards). Those intrested into types of resins will be able to attend the lecture on Amber - gold of the North held by dr. Miha Jeršek from the Museum of Natural History of Slovenia. At the end of Collecta the will be a presentation of stamps issued on 27th March, 2009 which is not to be missed espacially for all Philately fans. Amog these stamps there will be presented a special series celebrating 90th anniversary of the first stamp Verigarji (chainbreakers).
